The Microbial Sciences Institute at Yale West Campus is proud to support and serve as a sponsor of Black in Microbiology, an essential forum for the discussion of racial disparities in microbiology and related fields. @BlackinMicro Week takes place Sept. 28 - Oct. 4, 2020, and serves as a vibrant celebration of Black microbiologists, with talks and panels featuring microbiologists across career stages and subdisciplines. The event aims to:

  • Showcase the presence and accomplishments of Black microbiologists from around the globe.

  • Connect Black microbiologists with one another and foster a sense of community among them.

  • Provide a forum for the discussion of racial disparities in microbiology and its sub-disciplines, and engage with the community at large to increase general microbiology knowledge.

  • Amplify Black scientists in all fields, acknowledge the contributions to their disciplines and support the collective work of pursuing equity in academe, industry, government, and beyond.
