Why Storytelling Matters for Science

Lecture: “Why Storytelling Matters for Science”, Monday, 9/23, at 4:30pm in the new Yale Science Building Auditorium, 260 Whitney Avenue, New Haven. 

The Microbial Sciences Institute (with other departments) is bringing author Ed Yong (https://edyong.me/) to Yale. Ed is a regular contributor to The Atlantic, The New Yorker, and other magazines; the author of New York Times bestseller “I Contain Multitudes: The Microbes within Us and a Grander View of Life”; and the winner of numerous awards for his scientific writing.

Ed will give a lecture in the afternoon in the new science building lecture hall at Science Hill. He’ll be joined by Liz Neeley, the director of Story Collider (www.storycollider.org), a non-profit organization dedicated to scientific communication. The Story Collider podcast has over 9 million downloads and has been highlighted as one of the best science podcasts by Nature, Business Insider, Wired, The Wall Street Journal, and others.

After the lecture, there will be a discussion/reception with Ed specifically for the MSI community.
